Bring a FREE highway safety, seatbelt safety and distracted driving program to your Maine organization
Atlantic Partners EMS provides a variety of Occupant Restraint Safety Programs through a grant with the Bureau of Highway Safety for any organization, public safety agency, or school / college, and for all age groups. These programs consist of classroom training, exhibition display, and / or demonstrations of the Seat Belt “Convincer” as weather permits.
The Seat Belt "Convincer "
Classroom training objectives include the dynamics of why safety restraints are important, their correct use, and familiarization with Maine laws. The program is tailored for specific school age groups or for the adult learner.
The Convincer allows people to experience the impact of a low speed crash. Buckle up and be ready for a quick stop as your “vehicle” impacts at 5 mph. This “crash course” in physics will convince the audience that safety belts really work.
Distracted Driving Programs
There are many activities that can divert a driver’s attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions can increase the risk of a crash. These types of distractions include:
- Talking on a cell phone
- Reading, including maps
- Using a navigation system
- Eating and drinking
- Adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player
- Talking to Passengers
But, because text messaging requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the diver, it is by far the most dangerous distraction.
Maine Law bans texting and driving, including sending or receiving text messages.
We will come to your facility and provide a safety educational opportunity for adults and or teen to see first had the dangers of distracted driving. Our state of the art simulators are designed to give a realistic view from behind the wheel and interact and see the true dangers facing our drivers daily.
Workplace Traffic Safety
Do you have TRAFFIC SAFETY as part of your organizations WELLNESS/SAFETY PROGRAM?
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury for all ages. Motor vehicle crashes have tragic effects on families, employers, and communities. But, they are preventable through education, enforcement and policy change. Together we as agencies, employees and associations can spread awareness, educate policymakers and inform our staff and industry counterparts.
The Network of Employers Traffic Safety created “The Cost of Crashes Calculator” for employers who want to understand the cost of crashes incurred by their occupational fleets, in addition to the on-and off-the-job costs of crashes for all their employees and their employees’ dependents. Knowing an occupational fleet’s costs enables management to develop a business case that supports an investment in fleet safety.
