EMS Scholarships

Stephen MacDonald EMS Scholarship for Aspiring Paramedics

There are FIVE scholarships of $250 to be awarded to aspiring paramedics, one in the fall and one in the spring.

CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP:

Candidates must:

  1. Be at least 18 years old (provide a copy of State ID)
  2. Work for an EMS service (either transporting or non-transporting)
  3. Be currently enrolled or accepted into a Maine Paramedic Program
  4. Provide a copy of your acceptance letter into a Paramedic Program (Certificate, Associate, or Bachelors)
  5. Provide a letter from your Service Chief to prove affiliation with that Service
  6. Provide a copy of your current/active Maine EMS License (EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Basic)
  7. Must write a one page essay outlining your EMS experience/background, how you plan on utilizing the scholarship money, and what the future holds for you as a new Paramedic.
  8. Must have a cover letter with your name, your home mailing address, email address, contact phone number, and the name of the department(s) for which you currently work.

Spring Scholarship

Recipients of the scholarship will be chosen by May 31, 2016. If you are selected for the scholarship you will be contacted by phone and receive an award certificate along with a check in the mail. This money is to be utilized by the winner to help offset the costs of paramedic school not covered by a sponsoring service (i.e. gas money, testing costs, clinical fees, daycare costs, etc). The awarded money is not to be used as reimbursement to any Fire Department or EMS organization.

APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM FEBRUARY 1st TO APRIL 30th. (Please make sure it is post-marked before MAY 1st to be eligible)

Fall Scholarship

Recipients of the scholarship will be chosen by December 31st. If you are selected for the scholarship you will be contacted by phone and receive an award certificate along with a check in the mail. This money is to be utilized by the winner to help offset the costs of paramedic school not covered by a sponsoring service (i.e. gas money, testing costs, clinical fees, daycare costs, etc). The awarded money is not to be used as reimbursement to any Fire Department or EMS organization.

APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM SEPTEMBER 1st TO DECEMBER 1st. (Please make sure it is post-marked before December 1st to be eligible)
