YCCC EMS LogoYork County Community College was established in 1994 by the Maine Legislature to serve the growing workforce of the Southern Maine Communities. The main campus of YCCC is located at 112 College Drive in Wells, Maine. The two-story 77,000 square foot building sits on 84 wooded acres of land. The Wells campus is accessible from Route 1, Route 109 and the Maine Turnpike, Exit 19. College Drive is located off of Chapel Road. The Precision Machining Technology Center is located at 1 Eagle Drive in neighboring Sanford, Maine. The Sanford location is accessible from Route 109 and the Maine Turnpike, Exit 19. One Eagle Drive is located off Route 109. The Department of Business & Community Programs offers many non-credit classes and workforce training sessions in the North Dam Mill/Pepperell Mill Campus located at 2 Main Street in Biddeford, Maine.

Awards of Completion are given at three levels as students complete technical courses and are prepared to sit for State Licensure. These three Awards of Completion are:

Academic Program Prerequisites

EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)

Accuplacer-Reading/Composition Test
This test must be scheduled through a college or a Higher Education Facility and completed with a passing score of 65 or higher. Official copies of the test scores must be turned in to our office by faxing to 207-974-4879 or emailing to [email protected].

Immunization Records
Please use the link on our website for access to the immunization form and have your primary care physician complete it and fax the completed copy to our office at 207-974-4879, attention Heather McGlauflin. Please indicate the course number (ex 123-30) given to you, at time of registration or in your welcome letter, in the appropriate place on the immunization form.

Healthcare Provider CPR
Students must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR certification that does not expire during the course time-frame. Proof must be presented to the instructor the first night of class. If you are in need of a Healthcare Provider CPR course please click HERE

AEMT (Advanced Emergency Medical Technician)

All students entering the AEMT program are required to be licensed at the EMT level to apply to the ALS Pathway and must go through the selection process, determined by the Committee.

Application Process
Applications must be completed to the college and can be found on the colleges’ website (click HERE. Evaluation packets must be completed by the 3 stated references. It is recommended to give a stamped and addressed envelope along with the form to each reference, to be mailed back to the college.

Student selection is based upon scores of the Accuplacer Reading/Comp (65+) and Write Placer in addition to the Medical Knowledge Exam (76+) (scheduled through the college) in addition to the 3 reference evaluations.

Upon successful completion of the Advanced EMT program, students will have 2 years to enroll into the Paramedic program.

Paramedic

Students currently accepted into the ALS Pathway (AEMT to Paramedic Courses) will have a guaranteed spot in the upcoming Paramedic program upon successful completion of each step. If you are not currently enrolled in the ALS Pathway through our program, you will have to submit an application to the college and follow the Application Process for the program.
